It began with a simple Hinge match, but it quickly grew into something deeper. They didn’t rush—but from the start, the conversations were honest, thoughtful, and real. Both had been through enough to know what they wanted—and what they wouldn’t settle for.

They talked through everything early—values, non-negotiables, dreams. It wasn’t always smooth, but they never dodged the hard stuff.

What started as chemistry became partnership. Carla is the energy in the room—the go-getter, the social engine, the one who keeps things moving and people close. Andrei is the calm in the chaos—the logic, the steady hand, the one who keeps everything grounded.

Now they live in Singapore with their two wacky cats, Loki and Chonki, building a life meant to last.

The Proposal

Proposing to Carla was always going to be tricky—she doesn’t like surprises, and she has a sixth sense for sniffing them out. I knew if I involved anyone, she’d find a way to squeeze the truth out of them. So I kept the whole plan to myself. No accomplices. Just pressure.

The first attempt was during her birthday dinner with visiting family and close friends. We had a great time, but the moment didn’t feel right.

The second was the next day. I chartered a yacht for the entire family, thinking the experience would give the cue I needed. Still, no go.

Next day, after a casual Sunday barbecue at home, we called everyone in for a group photo. Just as we were about to say “cheese,” I switched it: “Everyone say… Carla, will you marry me?”

I got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.

There were stunned gasps. Then tears.
And then, finally, a yes.
